What’s up lovely readers! Very glad you’re all tuning in and are still here - didn’t honestly expect anyone to want to read my lil blog considering I do opinion pieces for my job, but thank you so much for showing up and sticking around and waiting on my lil blog to return! I’m so glad people wanted to see my blog return as I worked so hard on it and love my lil piece of the internet so much. 

I’ll be honest, that hiatus lasted a tinyyyyyyy bit longer than planned (by which I mean it was not supposed to be so many months whoopsie) but the break was really helpful and I feel much better about this blog. Hopefully I’ll be able to post more regularly and get back to running this blog! Let’s just say my blog went on a lil hibernation, she’s awake now, had a stretch and some coffee and is ready to chat again.

 

But yeah thanks for waiting for my (inevitable) return hehe! A lot is happening this year - can y’all believe its 2023 already!?! For me this year is going to be focused on uni, this blog, my job at Esports (which I still can’t believe I have) and just enjoying life as those uni breaks leave plenty of time to bring in new content. 

So I know this blog is supposed to be a professional portfolio (hey to any recruiters, still available for work if you’re offering ;) ) but I do want this lil spot to also be more open and personal. Mainly because I want people to be able to get to know me as more than an esports journalist or uni student so except some more personal real talk and general more open conversations!

 

I’d love to promise an actual schedule of posting as part of my return for this year, but as they say, to avoid disappointment - I doubt this will realistically happen as I have a lot of commitments. And I suspect posting will be a bit haphazard any way as living in student accommodation does tend to make planning ahead not very likely, so my proposed blog posting schedule at this point is bi weekly. 

Every two weeks (no idea what day) there should be a new blog up, I'll keep to this for the next few months - or at least till summer rolls around; as I’ll have more time by that point! But let’s talk goals for this year - I always write down my goals but if I post them here I’m hoping that will make them even more motivating to achieve:

 

1.   I want to be more consistent with this blog - actually post, maybe get someone in to do my cover images so I can focus on the writing, etc.

2.   Write ups of esports and gaming events - I loved attending Insomnia i69 last year and want to do more write ups like the one I did for that event!

3.   Increase the amount of readers I get here <33

4.   Continue to improve my writing (include SEO)

5.   Attend MSI 2023 if possible e.g. it goes to London and I can afford it XD

 

 

I’ll be honest, during my hiatus, I was worried about returning here. I have a fair bit of work saved up in my drafts that could be posted but honestly I wasn’t very confident with it and going over it just made me doubt my writing entirely - hence part of the reasoning for hiatus. 

I also suck at growing socials e.g. Twitter, I have so many amazing writer friends and mutuals with huge followings who I always think are so incredible that their writing is much better than mine. But part of this blog is that I want to grow it and improve and keep improving my writing - and receiving such sweet messages asking when I would return was a huge motivator, so enough of that lil pity party.

 

This blog is going to continue in much the way it started with opinion pieces - if you want to read my news piece, you can visiting my work account at Esports which I’ll link somewhere (hint it's highlighted haha)! I also want to integrate more real talk onto this blog, as despite having the graphics ready, I never quite made it that far on that particular series so that will be making a return! I also want to integrate more of my fiction writing onto this blog as I love fiction writing and have written fanfics for years. 

I have a fiction piece that I’m aiming to finish very shortly and will be positing it once I’ve edited it for you all to enjoy and or skip over if you’re not a fan! If you know me from MSI 2021 (ish) you’’ll be aware I used to write (highly cringe worthy) fanfics - and several of my friends wrote some of me (which were a lot less cringe worthy though I doubt they’ll agree with me on that!). and as atrocious as those fanfics were, I do want to do more fiction writing and figured my blog would be a good place to dump them and get some opinions on them!

Other than that, there isn’t a ton of new information or updates to give before I start posting content again! I’m still the same half asleep koala obsessed esports writer/journalist/blogger you all know and have come to expect to appear on your timelines once in a while <33 the only major new thing is that I’m now hoping some genius merchandise designer will design an esports team a Kpop style light stick to take to the various studios for live matches. So not that much of a change from 2022!

 

I’m also not sure if I ever fully explained why I was going on hiatus - it was a while ago and I am very much forgetful - to cut a long story short, I had a lot going on, a lot of plates were spinning and had to spin all at once, and something had to stop while I got everything organised and under control properly. 

Sadly it was this blog that took the hit, as trying to maintain all of it was overwhelming and exhausting, so I took some time away to recuperate and organise my life a bit better (I promise I’m not going to be boring y’all with the details of my organisation but it includes a lot of to do lists XD). Having taken that lovely (longer than expected) break, I feel ready to come back and start this blog back up in time for the new year - new year new me and all that. Plus the freedom of blogging is one I absolutely lovely and having my own blog is amazing and makes me so happy.

 

So now that all the updates are out of the way and everyone is here (thank you again so so much for waiting for me to reappear from my hiatus / hibernation) all that’s left to say is happy 2023 from the blogspot Smol Koala Esports and see you in my first blog post for 2023! <333
